Parklin Security Successfully Safeguards Shangri-La’s Debut “Dragonbeat” Festival

On June 19, 2026, the Dragon Boat Festival, Stanley Main Beach in Hong Kong hosted a spectacular new event – the “Dragonbeat” festival, presented for the first time by the Shangri-La Group. This was more than a traditional dragon boat race; it was a brand-new lifestyle experience blending sports, culture, gastronomy, and entertainment. On the day, 185 dragon boat teams and nearly 4,000 athletes competed at Stanley Main Beach, attracting tens of thousands of spectators and visitors.

A major highlight of the event was the appearance of Winter Olympic gold medallist and freestyle skiing legend Eileen Gu, who was appointed as the “Dragonbeat” Ambassador. She attended the eye-dotting ceremony in person, injecting international glamour and energy into the festivities.

Our Mission: From Daytime Races to Beach Party

Parklin Security shouldered the core security responsibilities at the “Dragonbeat” event, with our services covering several critical areas:

1. Comprehensive Access Control & Crowd Management

From 8:00 AM, we deployed a tight security team at the Hong Kong Sea School (HKSS) , home to the Shangri-La Taste of Hong Kong Food Fair, and the VIP Zone. Following the deployment plan, we enforced strict bag checks and wristband control to ensure no prohibited items (such as glass containers or outside alcohol) entered the venue, effectively maintaining order and safety within the site.

After 4:00 PM, with the beach party commencing, the venue implemented one-way flow control and capacity management (maximum capacity 1,200). Our team coordinated with the organisers to swiftly convert six beach entrances to “exit-only” and guided guests to queue via the designated entrance, ensuring orderly crowd flow before and after the party began.

2. VVIP Executive Protection

Parklin Security’s specialty – Executive Protection – played a crucial role in this event. Our professional bodyguards and close protection team provided high-standard personal security for VVIPs including Ms. Hui Kuok, Chairman and Group CEO of Shangri-La Group and special guest Eileen Gu.

Our team conducted thorough risk assessments and route planning prior to the event. On-site, our bodyguards and close protection officers worked seamlessly with the marshals to quickly clear pathways during VVIP movements, ensuring their safe and unobstructed access to various areas, successfully fulfilling our protective duties.

3. Rapid Turnaround: Mobile Bag Check for the Beach Party

After the dragon boat races concluded around 4:30 PM, the first-ever “Dragonbeat” beach DJ party commenced immediately. This was a true test of our adaptability.

Parklin Security demonstrated exceptional execution efficiency. We swiftly set up mobile check points in the beach party area and divided the beach into four zones for phased security screening. We deployed 10 security guards for bag checks and 6 marshals for queue management per zone, issuing wristbands to screened guests for headcount purposes. The entire operation was conducted methodically, ensuring thousands of guests could enter the party area safely and swiftly to enjoy the music and beach festivities.

As seen in the photos, our team members wore neat and uniform attire, standing firm at their posts at bag check areas, entrances, VIP zones, and other key locations. We strictly enforced rules such as “No Glass Containers or Alcohol” and guided guests with professional and courteous attitudes, reflecting the signature Asian hospitality of the Shangri-La Group while maintaining order.
